Assassin's Creed Reveals Bizarre AoT Event for Holiday Season
In a surprising crossover event that defies usual predictions, Ubisoft has unveiled an digital partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, offering free extra story content for Shadows players.
Strange Mission Disclosed
According to the authorized statement, "A strange confrontation leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where rumors of prohibited ceremonies and terrifying changes reverberate through the darkness." The storyline features a "unusually garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the pair with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her friend from a secret cult.
The questline concentrates on "strange experiments and a monstrous foe" and is accessible to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Familiar Settings and Changes
The teaser showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through generations. The preview finishes with a dramatic moment showing a character, probably the captive, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Rewards and Extra Material
Players who successfully complete the quest will obtain an unique katana alongside multiple artifacts hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Exclusive weapons
- Survey Corps mount
Third Free Story Addition
This patch also introduces the game's latest free story addition, titled "The Mystery." This playful quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature abilities: Naoe introduces a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also features a original environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

The series previously included a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
